Monitoring the growth of a bacterial strain

Introduction / Principle

This assay identifies potential inhibitors of bacterial growth.

The growth of a bacterial strain is monitored over several hours by turbidimetry in the presence of the molecules to be tested.
The bacterial concentration is proportional to the absorbance measured at 620 nm.

Protocol

Format96 wells or 384 wells (with viability assay)
Bacterial strainAll L1 containment level strains
IncubationTo be adapted according to the model
Detection

Measurement of optical density at 620 nm as function of time

Notes :

  • Bacterial concentration to be defined during test validation
  • Provide 2 to 3 mg of compounds to be tested

Recommendation :

  • Ensure the solubility of the sample in a solvent compatible with bacterial culture

All models can be adapted to your request.
